Alen Wayne Smith, Sr., age 72, of Lenoir passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024 at his residence. He was born December 30, 1951 in Caldwell County to the late Charlie William Smith and Juanita Payne Smith Keller. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one half-brother, Jackie Smith; and one daughter, Michelle Haas.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Janice Hopper Smith, of the home; one son, Alen Wayne Smith, Jr. and wife Melissa of Lenoir; three daughters, Lynn Jones and husband Timothy of Hickory, Leigh Smith of Granite Falls, and Amy Summerlin of Lenoir; three brothers, Charles Smith and wife Vicki, Michael Smith, and Roger Smith, all of Lenoir; one sister, Debra Pease of Conover; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Jackson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
