Alfred Tate Oliver, age 86, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his residence. He was born July 8, 1939 in Watauga County to the late Roby Oliver and Dorothy Reynolds Oliver. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Della Jean Turnmire Oliver; one daughter, Carol Oliver; two brothers, Julius "Buddy" Oliver and Havard Oliver; two sisters, Lona Lawrence and Betty "Lib" Greer; four beloved grandchildren; and one step-son, Doug Ritch.

Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Barbara Ritch; three sons, Andy Oliver (Shannan), Brian Oliver (Melissa), and Jason Oliver; two daughters, Nona Oliver and Linda Watson (Jeff); one step-son, Richard Ritch; one brother, Garlund Oliver (Barbara); one sister, Marlene Triplett; eleven grandchildren; and numerous beloved great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Davis officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roby Oliver, Seth Oliver, Andrew Oliver, Kelly Oliver, Charlie Noles, and Carey Watson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
