Alice McKinney Reid, age 85, of Lenoir, North Carolina joined our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 16, 2026.

Our angel on Earth is finally reunited with friends and family gone before and is peacefully at home. Heaven shown a little brighter that day.

Alice was blessed with the gift of music. She played the piano, the organ, autoharp, and alto saxophone. Music was Alice’s love language.

Alice’s talents also included the ability to empathize. A passion for people, she loved the unloved. Affection for the weak and helpless was always on display. Emulating God’s grace on Earth, Alice would welcome her home where she would provide for their needs.

She was a successful real estate broker for over 40 years, eventually owning Alice Reid Realty in downtown Lenoir.

Alice was an excellent golfer. She worked tirelessly with her husband, Ernie Reid Sr. as pro/wife at Lenoir Gold Club for 13 years.

In addition to her parents, Charles and Eula McKinney, she is preceded in death by her partner for life, Ernest L. Reid Sr.; brothers, Edwin McKinney, Jack McKinney, and David McKinney.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ernest Reid Jr. (Trena); daughter, Melanie Reid Murphy (Jason); brother, Jim McKinney; sister, Virginia McKinney Parker (James); grandchildren, Jesse Coffey, Lani Reid Walsh, Cheyenne Reid Sage, Amber Walsh Crouch, Cody Huffman, Ciara Huffman, Dylan Murphy, and Christopher Murphy; as well as numerous great grandchildren.

We shall never forget her smile, her kindness, and her love.

In remembrance of Alice, take patience to wait for God’s plan and the courage to carry our His purpose for us all.

A memorial service to honor the life of Alice McKinney Reid will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 2:00PM at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the funeral home.
