Ann Arnette Gragg, aged 68, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025 near her home in Lenoir. She was born November 1, 1956 in Iredell County to Burlene Hammer Arnette and Louis Edward Arnette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Lee Gragg.

She is survived by her daughter, Teanne Gragg and husband Brian, of Boomer, NC, a son, Dustin Gragg and wife Malvika, of Raleigh, NC, and two grandchildren, Gwenivere and Macon, also of Boomer, NC.

Ann was an only child and daddy's girl who spoke fondly of playing with her toys under the front porch of their home.  She later went on to become a cheerleader at her alma mater, Hibriten High School, where she met Gregg.  They were together when he passed in 2016. In one of the last birthday cards he gave her, he wrote "You are my gift from God."

Ann spent several years navigating life as a single mother and succeeded in raising two children who became first generation college graduates who attained master's degrees.

Despite a lifetime of challenges, she managed to touch many lives. Ann worked for many years for Valmead Elementary School's daycare program, which she considered to be the most important and fulfilling professional experience of her life; a joy which was rivaled only by the time she spent being a grandma in her personal life. She often recalled her time at Valmead fondly and referred to the many children who came into her care as her "babies". Anyone who passed through the daycare program and knew Ms. Ann is encouraged to leave any memories in the physical or electronic guestbook at Greer-McElveen.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
