Arnold Fred Buchanan, age 88, passed away on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024.

Arnold was born on March 10, 1936 to the late Roy Allen Buchanan and Gladys Silver Buchanan in McDowell County, North Carolina.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Buchanan, and his brother, Bill Buchanan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Susan Jane Heaver; son, Fred Buchanan II "Angie Scott"; sister, Gail Hall; grandchildren, Brooke Buchanan, Julia Scott, Willow Scott, Christopher Ollis, and Cayla Ollis; and great-grandchildren, Damon Ollis and Eudora Ollis.

Arnold was member of the United States Air Force and served his country proudly. He loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren. Arnold was very knowledgeable in many areas, and he was the president of the PTO in Whitnel in 1971. He was previously a member of the Lions Club. He will be remembered as a good father and a good man.

A funeral service to honor the life of Arnold Fred Buchanan will be held at College Ave Baptist Church, where he was a member since 1960, on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 11am with Rev. Dr. Earl Davis officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church from 10am-11am.

Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Caldwell County DAV.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made payable to College Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Connelly Springs, NC.
