Ashley Elizabeth Crumpton, age 37, of Granite Falls, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at her home.

Ashley was born on August 17, 1989 in Gaston County, North Carolina.

She is preceded in death by her father, Eddie Writesman; uncle, Paul Philyaw; grandmother, Barbara Mathis; and grandfather, David Philyaw.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Linda Writesman (Michael Minton); brother, Matthew Crumpton (Jessica); aunts, Rhonda Twiggs, Tonya Kilby (Cory), Ginger Cespedez, and Ann Philyaw; uncles, Charles “Jr.” Philyaw and David Philyaw; grandmother, Helen Philyaw; grandfather, Mark Mathis; niece, Belle Crumpton; nephew, Henry Crumpton; nanny, Sara Swiregood; step-mother, Mary Jane Bailey (Mark); step-sister, Janie Campbell; best friends, Grace and Roger Nobles; and numerous cousins and other loved ones.

Ashley brought a smile to everyone’s face. She had a kind and giving heart and will be remembered for all the love she gave.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Amorem Hospice and those who cared for Ashely.

A celebration of life to honor Ashley will be held at a later date.
