Mrs. Barbara Burns Clough, age 83, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on April 12, 2024.

Barbara was born on January 16, 1941 in Washington County, Virginia to the late Robert Smith Burns and Ella Richardson Burns.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Clough, daughter, Robin A. Anderson; sisters, Glenna Mae Hodgson and Connie Nicholson; and brother, Bobby Burns.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, David W. Tanyer and wife Pamela and Lawrence Dean Quick and wife Sandra; daughter, Vanessa Miller and husband Bobby; brother, Michael Burns; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was a hard worker. She retired from Harper Furniture. She never once met a stranger, and she was such a giving woman that she would give you the shirt off her back. Barbara loved to talk and joke. She was one of the silliest and happiest women you would ever meet. People would go out of their way at Walmart to speak to her. Barbara loved the Lord, her church family, and her preacher. She is going to be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

A funeral service to honor the life of Barbara Burns Clough will be held at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 2pm with Reverend Freddie Stapleton officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1pm-2pm.

Interment will follow the service at Confidence Advent Christian Church Cemetery where Barbara is going to be buried beside her loving husband whom she is now reunited and rejoicing with for eternity.
