Barbara Toney Evans, age 77, of Lake Breeze Court, Hickory, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at her residence.  She was born October 13, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Glenn and Geneva Freeman Toney.

Mrs. Evans had worked in the office and was retired from Belk.  She was a member of Whitnel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. James H. Evans of the home; one son, Ronald S. Evans and wife Catherine B. of Williamston, NC; one daughter, Sharon Diane Benfield of Taylorsville, NC; one brother, Alan Toney of Rutherfordton, NC; three sisters, Mary Blanton and Betty Peeler both of Ellenboro, NC and Brenda Greene of Forest City, NC; four grandchildren, Terri Shook, Scott Wilson, Courtney Jones and Cameron Evans; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 17, 20190 at 2:00 P.M. at Whitnel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Lori Anne Bowen.  Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Wilson, Cameron Evans, Jack Blanton, Allen Benfield, Derek Brooks and Tim Southers.
