Ben Harrison Kincaid Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, surrounded by family, caregivers, and friends.
Ben was the 7th of 8 children born to the late George and Roxie Kincaid.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 75 years, Louise Greer Kincaid; son, Ben Kincaid Jr.; as well as three brothers, J. Wade Kincaid Sr., Rev. Hugh Kincaid, and Harold Kincaid; 4 sisters, Edna Tuttle, Ruth Robbins, Carrie Bush, and Louise Taylor.
Those left to cherish his wonderful memory include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Lawrence Robertson and Gloria and Paul Parker; granddaughter and spouse Lorie and John Duvall; 2 grandsons, David Kincaid and spouse Jenny and Patrick Parker; 3 great-granddaughters, Sophia Duvall, and Leah and Molly Kincaid; former daughter-in-law, Martha Jo Suttles and husband Tom; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ben started work at 16 years of age with his brother, Wade, and grandfather, George, at Kincaid Furniture. A family owned business. He became Vice-President in Purchasing at Kincaid for his entire career.
He was a member of the Appalachian Lumbermen Association and was on the Board of Directors at CCB (Central Carolina Bank).
Ben's Fellowship Sunday School meant so much to him. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Hudson First Baptist Church for over 45 years. Prior to serving at Hudson, Ben was Treasurer and Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years.
Ben became a Christian as a young man at Calvary Baptist Church.
Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed all the family coming together for fun, food, and fellowship. Ben was a generous man who loved and cared for his family. He never met a stranger and enjoyed his time on the golf course with all his friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of Ben's caregivers.
Memorials can be made to Amorem Hospice and the Alzheimer's Foundation.
A receiving will be held at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 10:00am-10:45am followed by a short service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park at 11am.
