Bernice J. Coffey Smith, age 90, of Hudson passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at Amorem Hospice. She was born November 15, 1933 in Watauga County to the late Everett Coffey and Thelma Greer Coffey. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two husbands, Rex Bishop and George Smith; one son, Barry Bishop; and two brothers, JB Coffey and Ernest Coffey.

Those left to cherish her memory include one grandson, Christopher Bishop of Lenoir; one great-grandson, Logan Bishop; one step-great-granddaughter, Jordan Greene; beloved cousins, Allene Turnmire, Margaret Carlton, and Kenneth Turnmire; one niece, Teresa Herman and husband Robert; one nephew, Steven Coffey; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Covenant Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Greer officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.
