Beryl Bradshaw Smith, age 96, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Hickory Village Memory Care where she had resided for the past three years. She was born in Lenoir on March 6, 1927 to the late John Bradshaw and Geneva Knight Bradshaw. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Max F. Smith, Sr.; son, Max F. Smith, Jr.; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda S. Morrison; two granddaughters, Alexandra M. Smith (Matt) and Christina M. Chavka (Seth); and three great-grandchildren, Cooper Smith, Campbell Smith, and Mackenzie Chavka. Beryl was very proud of her family and was a joy to be with.
She was very musically talented and could play several musical instruments. She always lit up when reminiscing about her Lenoir High School Band years in the 1940's while under the direction of the renowned Captain Harper. She played the bassoon and xylophone.
Beryl was a lifelong member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she was a choir member and also played piano for the children's Sunday School for many years.
She retired from Bernhardt Furniture and then worked at Belk for several years.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park conducted by Minister of Music, Jenny Thompson.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to College Avenue Baptist Church, 1201 College Ave SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
