Betty Irene Lackey Hinson, age 95, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Betty was born on July 8, 1931 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Carl and Bertha Lackey.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Hinson; daughter, Elizabeth Hawkins; brothers, Joe Lackey, Bobby Lackey, and Johnny Lackey; and sister, Mabel Coffey.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, James Hinson (Cherryl) and Samuel Hinson (Serina); daughter, Jeanette Waldrup; sister, Ada Laws; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty will be remembered as a caring person who was loved by all who knew her.

A graveside service to honor the life of Betty Hinson will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 1:00PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lenoir with Reverend Dale Payne officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amorem Hospice at 902 Kirkwood St NW, Lenoir, North Carolina, 28645.
