Mrs. Betty Jo Winkler, age 91, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Frye Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Winkler was born on August 10, 1932 in Caldwell County to the late Vonnie A. Watson

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James M. Winkler.

Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother,  great-grandmother, and friend to all.

Betty was an exceptional cook and baker. She was well known for her sour dough bread and especially her sour dough rolls, pecan pies, cakes, and a very special strawberry delight.

She was a dedicated Christian and she served her church as a choir member, Sunday school teacher, church clerk, and many other duties within the church.

Betty's greatest love was of her grandson Jonathan (Mackenzie) and especially her two great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Laney.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Dianne (Robert) Bennett and Donna (James) Bradshaw; grandson, Jonathan (Mackenzie) Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Laney Bradshaw; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held to honor the life of Mrs. Betty Winkler on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00am at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Brent Dula and Reverend Ethan Kirby officiating.

Friends are welcome to gather by the church after the service to visit with the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the Piney Grove Gideon Fund at Piney Grove Baptist Church on 2331 Piney Grove Cir, Lenoir, NC 28645.
