Bill Abel, Jr., age 81, of Lenoir passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born December 17, 1942 in Caldwell County to the late Fred William Abel, Sr. and Martha Childers Abel. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Diane Abel; one granddaughter, Kylee German; two brothers, James "Whitey" Abel and Larry Abel; and one sister, Norma Lindsay.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Cherry Abel, of the home; one son, Thomas Abel (Heather) of Lenoir; one daughter, Sarah Abel German (Garron) of Lenoir; three beloved grandchildren, Kade German, Pacey Abel, and Morgan German; two brothers, Steve Abel and Gary Abel, both of Lenoir; four sisters, Elizabeth Abel and Darlene Abel, both of Lenoir, and Karen Sadler and Kathy Hall, both of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. David Payne and Rev. Joel Bixler officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church. The family encourages everyone to wear their best UNC Tar Heels attire.
