Boyd B. Helton, age 94, of Lenoir passed away, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Amorem Hospice. He was born December 20, 1928 in Caldwell County to the late Jacob A. Helton and Ida Setzer Helton. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Helton; one son, William Boyd Helton "Junior" and wife Judy Hall Helton; grandson, Ryan Lingle; five brothers, Robert Helton, Fred Helton, Herndon Helton, Jay Helton, and Ray Helton; two sisters, Mary Helton, and Virginia Prestwood.

Those left surviving include one son, Kevin B. Helton (Nancy Crump) of Lenoir; one special son, Junior Starnes (Amy) of Taylorsville; three daughters, Lyn Helton, April Helton, Anita Lawson (Daniel), all of Lenoir; brother-in-law, Leonard Widner (Jimmie Kaye) of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Kirby of Lenoir; special niece, Jean Clippard; three grandchildren, Katelyn Rose Clement (Dalton), Rylan Crump, and Hailey Crump; and five step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Danny Wright, Rev. Chuck Byers, and Rev. Jerry Shew. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hailey Crump, Rylan Crump, Tim Hendrix, Dalton Clement, Jerry Dillard, and Mike Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Kirby and Brent Hartley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
