Bruce Micles Whisnant, age 78, of Lenoir passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehab in Wilkesboro.

Born May 9, 1945 in Caldwell County, Bruce was a son of the late Clyde and Rosa Lee Whisnant.  Bruce worked at Lenoir Mirror for many years.  He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid tarheels fan.  Through the years, Bruce coached baseball, softball and football.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Lloyd Hilliard Whisnant; two brothers, Gino Whisnant and Steve Whisnant.

Survivors include a son, Billy Whisnant (wife Ann); three brothers, Lee Whisnant, Duck Whisnant and Teddy Whisnant; one sister, Diane Whisnant; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.

A memorial service celebrating Bruce's life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Baton Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Parker officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
