Carl Coffey Wellborn, Jr., age 76, of Lenoir passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 27, 1946 in Caldwell County to the late Carl Coffey Wellborn, Sr. and Ellen Nelson Wellborn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Wellborn; two half-brothers, Joseph Wellborn and Earl Wellborn, Sr.; and two half-sisters, Clyde Colleen Wellborn and Mildred Carpenter.

Those left surviving include five sisters, Adrienne Watson of Lenoir, Eva Walsh of Ferguson, Nancy Mackie and husband John of Clover, SC, Alma Mullinax of Lenoir, and Bea Pope and husband David of Lenoir; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Robert Livingston. Interment will immediately follow at Laurel Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
