Carleen Delores Hatley Wood, age 83, of Lenoir passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born December 3, 1941 in West Virginia to the late Robert Edward Hatley and Mattie Coeburn Hatley. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by four children, infant Kenneth James Baldwin, Eric Eugene Wood, Penny Lee Wood, and Sherry Darlene Hoyle; three brothers, Dale Hatley, Don Hatley, and Jack Hatley; and one sister, Aileen Brown.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, David Wood, of the home; one son, David Wood II; one brother, Doug Hatley; two sisters, Wanda Townsend and Greta Ecret; four beloved grandchildren, Michael Hoyle, Loretta Hoyle, Victoria Hoyle, Jamie Watson, Spencer Heafner, and Sierra Heafner; six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
