Catherine “Cathi” Graham Arney, age 70, of Lenoir, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Our beloved mother, sister, granny, “GaGa,” friend and sister-in-Christ will be forever loved and truly missed, but we can find peace in knowing one day we will see her again.
Cathi was born April 13, 1956, in Midland, Michigan, to the late Frederick William Graham Jr, M.D. and Grace “Sunny” Catherine Korstian Graham. In addition to her parents, Cathi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Ernest Arney.
Cathi was raised in Asheboro and was a 1974 graduate of Asheboro High School. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Campbell University. She met the love of her life, Robert. She would often say Robert was her "one and done." They shared 28 wonderful years of a marriage built upon God, love and respect. Cathi and Robert were blessed with two sons, Jason and Daniel. Cathi was a devoted wife. Jason and Daniel always referred to her as a "darn good Momma."
Cathi retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service as a rural mail carrier. Her faith was the foundation of her life. A devoted Christian, she lived as a disciple of Christ, striving each day to make a difference for God's glory. She was an "investor" at Waterlife Church in Lenoir, where she faithfully participated in the WOW2 Life Group and made many close friends. Through that community, she deepened her relationships with others, strengthened her faith through Bible study and prayer, and embraced a life of purpose. She also found great joy and encouragement in listening to contemporary worship music.
Cathi was the glue that kept her family connected, cherishing every opportunity to bring loved ones together. One of her greatest joys was planning special "cousins' trips," creating traditions filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories that her family will treasure for generations to come.
Those left to cherish Cathi’s memory include her loving sons, Jason Scott Arney of Lenoir and Daniel Graham Arney (and wife, KayAnn) of Granite Falls; three grandchildren, Gavin McKale Arney, Madilyn “Madi” Grace Arney and Irelyn Rose Arney (and their mother, Ashley Arney); sister, Elizabeth “Christy” Christian Graham Goforth (and husband, Michael Clay Goforth) of Asheville; brother, Frederick William Graham III (and wife, Traci) of Abilene, TX; nieces, Kathleen Brown (and her sons, Mason & Graham) and Crystal Kennedy (and husband, Buf, and their son, Jacoby); and nephews, Jake Graham (and wife, Whitney) and Michael Clay Goforth Jr.
Cathi’s Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 pm, Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Waterlife Church, 1007 Morganton Blvd., Lenoir, officiated by Pastors Todd Braswell & Kevin Burns. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00 pm - 6:45 pm. Per Cathi’s request, please dress casual and “come as you are.” Cathi will be laid to rest with her beloved husband during a private committal at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenoir.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Cathi to Waterlife Church (https://www.waterlifechurch.com/give).
