Cecil Ray Laws, age 72, of Patterson passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born January 7, 1951 in Caldwell County to the late Rayvon R. Laws and Dorothy Bradshaw Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Jalean Renae Houston Laws, of the home; one son, Kevin Prestwood of Lenoir; two daughters, Shannon Laws and Ginger Laws, both of Patterson; two brothers, Jimmy Laws of Lenoir and Ronnie Laws of Hudson; two sisters, Sheila Suddreth and Pat Hatley, both of Hudson; two grandchildren Sasha Laws and Cordell "Hammer" Prestwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Dula officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church.
