Charles Alex Coffey passed away peacefully on a glorious Sunday morning, August 3, 2025, at the age of 92.  He was born in Caldwell County on April 23, 1933 to the late Clarence and Verlee Bryant Coffey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers, James, Wayne, Raymond and Roy.

Mr. Coffey attended Gamewell High School.  He enjoyed playing football and especially baseball, where in the 9th grade, he was the pitcher.

He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Japan.

He came out of service and started a long career of truck driving and occupations associated with transportation.  From Anderson Truck Lines to his own company, KLT Enterprises, which he named after three of his granddaughters, he operated his own trucking company for 20 plus years.   He loved driving his truck, especially his 1972 Peterbilt and taking his family to the beach camping.

He was saved at a young age and was a member of Yadkin Baptist in Patterson.  He was also a previous member of Green Mountain Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a teacher for the youth.

Survivors are his wife Betty Haas Coffey of 68 years, daughters, Neena Coffey Tysinger (William) of Lenoir, Valerie Coffey Norris (Jeff) of Huntersville; five grandchildren, Lauren Tysinger Wilson (Kevin) of Boone, Kalyn Tysinger Hendrix (Garrett) of Lenoir, Beverly Chatelain-Tysinger (Sam) of Lenoir, Taylor Reed Norris of Raleigh and David Alex Norris of Fuquay-Varina; and four great-grandchildren, Adelaide Ruth Wilson, Graham Alton Wilson, Mia Leigh Wilson, and Ryder Douglas Wilson all of Boone.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Yadkin Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Livingston and Rev. Jim Phillips officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yadkin Baptist Church or Amorem (Caldwell County Hospice).
