Charlie Watson, age 89, passed peacefully at Amorem, Hospice in Hudson, NC on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Charlie was born on November 8, 1935, in Lenoir, NC, to Harley (Duke) and Oma Watson.  He worked as a wooden folk toy maker for many years and was known for his dedication to his work and family. He married Cathern (Joybell) Poarch in 1956, and they raised two children together as well as two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He passed just shy of their 69th wedding anniversary on August 3.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Cathern; four children: Ronald, Larron (Teresa), Katlyn (Joey) and Tyler (Emma); six grandchildren: Toni, JR, Clayton (India), Jessica (Jack), Alisa (Devin), and Layla; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. at Grandview Park Baptist Church. The Reverend Raymond Spann will officiate.

Charlie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His humor, music ability and craftiness will be remembered by family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and coon hunting. All who knew him will remember his joy of playing the banjo and many other stringed instruments.
