Charlotte Jackson Sweeney

Charlotte Jackson Sweeney, 75, of Hudson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025.

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on June 6, 1949, Charlotte lived a life full of adventure and love. As a devoted military spouse, she traveled the world, making homes in places like Scotland, Georgia, and Florida, to name a few. Always embracing her love for fashion and carrying herself with grace while embracing the communities she encountered. All while showing and sharing her love for God, Faith and Family.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edith, Elmer & Robert, her beloved husband, Brad, her daughter, Margaret "Buffy" & husband Doug, and her sister Jean.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen Carson Bowman; her adored grandchildren, Chelsey Bowman Phillips (Joseph), Brittany "Alison" Phillips (Cody), and Daniel John Bowman Jr. (Connie); and her precious great-grandchildren, Maverick Phillips, Juliette Phillips, Carson Phillips, and Charlotte "Charlee Jo" Phillips. Along with siblings Connie Carter, Elmer Hinkle Jr. (Melanie), Gail Palino(Tony) and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.

Though Charlotte played many roles in life, being "Nana" was her greatest joy and true calling. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she dedicated herself to creating cherished memories filled with love, laughter, and endless hugs. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of feeling this radiant love.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1pm-2pm at Greer McElveen Funeral Home in Lenoir, NC with a funeral service immediately following at 2pm conducted by the Dr. Tim Brittain, concluding with burial at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, NC.
