Cheryl Miller Pope, age 77, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Cheryl was born on July 19, 1947 in Burke County to the late John Wiley Miller and Maggie Mae Hamby Miller.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gene Pope; brothers, Sonny Miller and Stephen Miller; and sisters, Penny Anthony and Suzanne Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jeffrey Shawn Pope; daughters, Regina Elaine Pope and Lisa Cheryl Pope; brothers, Chris Miller and Ted Miller; sisters, Toni Barlow, Diane Canipe, Irene Parker, and Sheila Miller; grandchildren, John Thomas Buchan, Conner Hamby, and Cooper Hamby; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Carolyn Walker.

Cheryl loved the Lord with all her heart. She truly had the heart of a servant. She would always put others before herself, even when she, herself, was ill. Cheryl loved her family, and they loved her just as much in return. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a soft spoken woman who was very humble and kind. During her time in a care facility, she befriended a lady who needed her assistance, and Cheryl was always there to help and care for this friend selflessly. Cheryl also loved her dog, Mickey. She loved to talk about him, and he was a wonderful companion to her.

A funeral service to honor the life of Cheryl Pope will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 2:00pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Allen Norrod officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm .

Entombment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
