Clarence C.
Spann
Jun 18, 1940 — Apr 26, 2025
Lenoir
Clarence Charles Spann, age 84, of Lenoir, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on June 18, 1940, in Watauga County, NC, to the late Charlie Robert Spann and Lola Greene Spann. Clarence made Lenoir his home for the past 64 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Spann; his brothers, Philip Spann and Lawrence Greene; and his sister, Virginia Greene.
Clarence began working at a young age at Lenoir Golf Course, later continuing his career at Cedar Rock Country Club. His strong work ethic led him to establish Spann's Lawn Service, which he proudly ran alongside his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Spann, until her passing in 2023. Clarence had a passion for antique cars and a deep love for working, but above all, he was a devoted family man. If you visited Clarence once, you were company - the next time, you were family.
Clarence and his beloved wife, Barbara Ann, shared a special bond that was evident to anyone who visited their home. Often seen sitting side by side on their loveseat, holding hands like young sweethearts, their love remained strong and unwavering throughout their years together. Clarence's legacy of hard work, love for family, and welcoming spirit will live on in all who knew him.
Clarence is survived by his sons, J.R. Spann (wife Ann Spann), Rev. Raymond Spann (wife Debbie Spann), and Dennis Spann (wife Venise Spann); his grandchildren, Amanda Beane (husband Rev. Dustin Beane), Grayson Spann (partner Wendy Barszcz), and Mason Spann (fiancée Halle Romanik); his great-grandchildren, Avery Spann, Allie Beane, Rhea Beane, Charlie Beane, and Kane Spann; and his honorary grandchildren, Jordan Taylor and Ashleigh Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. at Grandview Park Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Spann officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery of Blowing Rock.
Serving as pallbearers will be Eric "Hotrod" Miller, Mikah Abernathy, Chris Edmisten, Mike Willis, Phillip Killian, and Rusty Greene.
