Cleat David (Skip) Isenhour, age 87, of Hudson, NC passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 at his residence after a 7 month battle of pancreatic cancer.  He fought with dignity up to the end.

He was born on April 26, 1936 to Torrence Isenhour and Irene Mitcham Isenhour in Hudson, NC. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by the love of his life, Mildred Faye Isenhour after being married 62 wonderful years together; as well as a sister, Sheila Cannon; and brother-in-law, Richard Cordes.

Skip was an avid outdoorsman he loved to crappie fish and deer hunt. Most importantly he loved working in his yard and garden. He was well known in the neighborhood for his produce and especially his tomatoes. Everyone would call him the tomato man.

He was a retired mechanic he worked at 321 garage and radiator shop until his retirement.  He also served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957 and was stationed in Germany.

He was a man of a few words but was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family dearly.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Diane Isenhour Davis and husband (John), and Sandra Isenhour Dellinger and husband (Lenny); grandchildren, Curtis Gaines and wife (Kristen) of Lenoir, Lindsey Davis of Seattle, Washington, and Chad Walker of Granite falls and special friend Ashley Phillips; and great grandchildren, Gavin Walker, Owen Gaines and Marlie Gaines. He is also survived by his brother, Jake Isenhour and wife (Priscilla); sisters, Joann Dula and husband (Joe), and Rachel (Sis) Hampton; several nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends and neighbors that would visit him regularly.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Doug Cox. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
