Colene Reba Silver, age 87, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 in her home.

Colene was born in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Melvin Lloyd Church and Lou Golds Church on May 6, 1936.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, James H. Laws and second husband, Franklin D. Silver; brothers, Ed Church, Vance Church, Rufus Church, Clyde Church, and Howard Church; sisters, Faye Whisnant and Annie Mae Burch; and grandchild, Ronnie Alan Laws.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, James R. Laws (Vanessa) and Gary H. Laws (Teresa Roark Laws); daughters, Patsy Diane Ferguson (Ted) and Betty J. Townsend; grandchildren, Alexander Lee Harrison Laws, Adam Laws, Ronda Champion, Melissa Dawn Cornett, and James Ray Ferguson; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a very special pet, Phoebe who was her "baby doll".

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00AM with Pastor Jack Lewis officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM.
