Cynthia Houck Sanders, age 71, of Lenoir passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born August 20, 1955 in Caldwell County to the late Harold Glenn Houck and Bessie Hartley Houck. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Sanders, Sr.

Mrs. Sanders was a longtime member of Living Hope Church. She was known for being strong in her faith and a prayer warrior. She will be remembered for the unwavering love and devotion she had for her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Randal Glenn Houck and wife Rebecca; nephew, Chad Houck and wife Shawna; great-niece, Eve Houck; step-son, Jack “June Bug” Sanders, Jr. and wife Karen; step-granddaughter, Bethany Sanders; and numerous beloved friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Gilliam, Rev. David Crisp, and Rev. Jonathan Bryan officiating. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Living Hope Church, 1890 Connelly Springs Rd, Lenoir, NC 28645; or a charity of your choice.
