Dale Roger Andrews, age 74, of Hudson, died Wednesday, June 25, 2025. He was born April 25,1951, in Lenoir, N.C. to Hardy and Hazel Andrews.

Dale graduated from Hudson High in 1969. Dale was quick to develop a love of cars while working as a mechanic in his father's garage. While his skills as a mechanic blossomed, so did a passion for drag racing. After high school, Dale and brother Ralph Andrews pursued a career in drag racing where they competed at state and national events for over 25 years. Dale won many local, regional and national titles. He was respected by all those who knew him in the drag racing community because of his competitive nature, habit for winning often, his professionalism and sportsmanship to all. It was only Dale's love for his kids and their busy athletic schedules that made him call it a career and stop racing. After racing Dale worked at Carolina Kenworth and Newton Transportation as a local truck driver.  Out of the need to be busy, Dale operated a successful lawn care business for the past 15 years.

Dale was loved and respected by his family, friends, and community. He was a complete gentleman, kind, hardworking, easy to talk to, someone you couldn't help but like. Dale adored his children (Michael and Holly) and doted on his grandchildren Madelyn, Warren, Windsor and Brogan. He enjoyed traveling with his family or just being with them. He enjoyed his morning breakfast conversations with his buddies at City BBQ and Bojangles. He was a mechanical genius and could fix anything.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife Cookie Andrews, brothers Raymond Keen, Ralph Andrews, Bob Keen and James Keen. Survivors include, his daughter, Mrs. Holly Andrews Haney and husband Thomas Edward Haney III of Lenoir, son Michael Dale Andrews and wife Shannon Alley Andrews of Granite Falls, four grandchildren, Madelyn Andrews, Warren Andrews, Windsor Haney and Brogan Haney, sisters Lou McRary, Ruth Hodges, Billie Sue Waisner and brother Louis Keen.

A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to11A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will begin at 11:00 A.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
