Darrell "DeJay" Coffey, age 41, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2025.

DeJay was born in Caldwell County, North Carolina on May 8, 1984 to the late Sandra Darlene Crump Oakes.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Donald Oakes.

Those left to cherish his memory include his fiancée, Cindy McNeil; father, J.B. Sutton; daughter, Destiny Coffey; step-daughter, Chelsey McNeil; step-son, Jay McNeil; sister, Kassandra Clark; grandchildren, Kai Haney and Eli Haney; niece, Katie Clark; nephews, Devin Clark and Kaleb Clark; and numerous other loved ones.

DeJay was always the joker. He could make anyone laugh and lighten the mood of any room he entered. He had a kind heart and would do anything he could to help others. DeJay was madly in love with his fiancée, Cindy. He also loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He will be dearly missed.
