Darren Keith Correll, age 59, passed away August 20, 2025 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, NC. He was born on April 17, 1966 in Caldwell County to the late Oran Vern Correll and Helen Triplett Correll.

Darren was an exceptional athlete having played football and wrestling at Hibriten High School therefore earning a football scholarship to Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. Upon completion of his freshman year he transferred to Appalachian State University where he graduated with a degree in Recreation, Parks & Management. Darren's work ethic was unmatched and for some years he worked two full time jobs at once.

His favorite words centering on the theme of persistence, resilience and never giving up were "perseverance" and "carpe diem". He loved to banter back and forth on the topic of politics but his end game was to fight for those he believed were in need. Darren loved to cook and garden. He almost always had a garden full of vegetables to give to his family and friends.

Darren is survived by his three children; daughters Catherine Jordan Greene and husband Josh, Toni Olivia Correll and son, Corey Darren Correll and finance Lauren; Grandchildren;  Henry and Charlotte and a grandson on the way; Three brothers, Timothy Oran Correll of Germany and Anthony Vern Correll and Richard Val Correll both of Lenoir. Also close to his heart were his nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends that he considered family.

His memory will live on through the love he gave and the lives he touched.
