Davey Monroe Greer, age 61, of Lenoir, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, surrounded by those he cherished. He was born January 3, 1964, in Caldwell County, the son of the late Monroe McKinley Greer and Iris Marie Townsend Greer. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Denise Hendrix. Family was most important to Davey, he cherished every moment spent with them.
Davey had a way of making every moment brighter. Whether he was laughing with his grandchildren, joking with family and friends, casting a line while fishing, or enjoying his favorite music, he brought joy, warmth, and love wherever he went. A lifelong NASCAR fan, he especially loved Dale Earnhardt, cheering him on with the same enthusiasm and passion that marked his own life.
He attended God's Grace Baptist Church, Davey carried his Appalachian roots proudly and lived his life with faith, humor, and a playful spirit. Known for his quick wit and kind heart, he had a gift for keeping people smiling and creating joyful memories with everyone around him. He loved making people laugh, sharing stories, and filling any room and laughter.
Davey dedicated 45 years of his life to the furniture industry where he spent most of his career at Fairfield Chair, beginning as a teenager of just 16. His commitment, and strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of coworkers and friends alike.
Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other Jessica Dickenson; his son, Erin Greer (Haley); daughters, Jessica Wade (Manuel Cuellar), Danielle Greer, and Emily Greer; brother, Steve Greer; sisters, Sherrie Day and Tammy Holland (Gerald); and seven grandchildren who brought him endless joy: Evan Hollie, Kason Witherspoon, Belen Cuellar, Nolan Greer, McKinley Greer, Anthony Oliver, and Jasiah Smith. He will also be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Davey's life and receiving of friends will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at God's Grace Baptist Church, 102 Countryside Drive SW, Lenoir NC 28645, with Pastor Tony Hamby officiating.
Graveside services will be held following the service at 4:30 P.M. at Townsend Family Cemetery, 220 Blaine Norwood Rd, Banner Elk, NC 28604.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
