David Sam Petty, age 65, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 27th, 2024.

David was born on May 15, 1958 to the late Beulah Ferguson in Pennsylvania County, Virginia.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, Jim Petty and John Lee Petty, and sisters Vivian McCain and Betty Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife of 50 years, Norma Petty; step-son, Rasean Denny; daughters, Ladashia Dula, Shuanya Lovitt and husband Reggie, and Kimberly Carver and husband Kyle; brother, Larry Petty; sisters, Virginia Rucker and Sally Wiles; grandchildren, Elena Dula, Gelane Dula, Taniya Petty, Maurice Dupont, Sincere Carver, Zion Petty, Kyleah Carver, Kyle Carver Jr., Kyler Carver; Kylie Carver; Jahleel Lovitt, Jahzaria Lovitt, and Gabriel Bocanegra; and 3 great-grandchildren.

David met Norma when they were teenagers. The two were  blissfully wed for 50 years. David was a hard worker, who started working at 16 years old and never stopped for the next 44 years. He was very active in his church for 15 years, during which time he used his love of music to play guitar and the drums for his fellow congregation members. Most importantly, David was a family man. He loved his family, and his family loved him.

A memorial service to honor the life of David Sam Petty will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 at 1pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Hayes serving as master of ceremonies and Reverend James Wilfong providing the eulogy.
