Debra Darlene Mooney Whisnant, age 70, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Amorem Hospice. She was born August 26, 1953 in Wilkes County to the late Clay Mooney and Margaret Mastin Mooney. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Roger Whisnant.

Mrs. Whisnant was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Roger Dale Whisnant and wife Paula of Lenoir; one daughter, Tracie Greene and husband Derrick of Lenoir; four grandchildren, Garrett Greene, Madison Greene, Hadyn Whisnant and Savanah Whisnant; one great-grandchild, Rhett Asher Greene; and three sisters, Irene Punch and husband Ray of Hickory, Ann Smith and husband Jeff of Lenoir, and Kaye Seagle of Hickory.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Dula officiating.  Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 to 12:00 P.M. at the church.
