Doris Hinson Bush, age 92, of Lenoir passed away Monday, September 2, 2024. She was born May 5, 1932 in Union County to the late Chauncey Depew Hinson and Carrie Griffin Hinson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rich "C.R." Bush; two brothers, Walton Heath Hinson and Everette Chauncey Hinson; an infant sister; one niece, Jackie Purgeson; and one brother-in-law, Phillip B. Bush, II.
Doris was a graduate of New Salem High School and Wingate University, she was on the tennis team and sang in the chorus at both schools. Prior to retirement Doris worked for City Chevrolet, Commercial Credit of Charlotte, Gaddy Chevrolet, Bush Oldsmobile Pontiac, and the dentist office for Dr. Richard Graham in Lenoir. Singing and playing the piano was Doris's love as well as enjoying a good game of tennis and skiing.
Doris was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for years. She was active in many aspects of the church such as serving previously as President and member of St. Stephens Council, as well as active in the WELCA. Doris was a sustaining member of the Lenoir Service League and board member of the Western Piedmont Sister Cities Association, Lenoir Sister Cities Association, and was a member and President for 13 years of the Edelweiss Club (German Club) of the Unifour area.
Doris loved living an active life and nothing pleased her more than taking a train ride with her grandson Rylan or going to visit him at college, and she loved giving treats to her grand dog every day. Doris also enjoyed visiting her friends, Chris and Cookie, at Sky Nails every month to get her nails done as well as working her word search puzzles every day.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Laura Sedlacek (Scott) of Lenoir; one son, Charles Richard Bush of Lenoir; one brother, Laurin Hinson (Atha) of Monroe; numerous nieces and nephews; and one beloved grandson, Rylan Sedlacek.
Services will be private.
