Dorothy Virginia Parsons Wilcox, age 79, of Lenoir, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13, 2025.

Dorothy was born on October 31, 1945 to the late Coy and Margaret Parsons in Washington County, Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Edward Wilcox; son, Mike Minton; brother, Harold Parsons; sister, Joyce Frazier; and 5 grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, William "Bill" Minton, Steven Wilcox (Kelly); daughter, Nancy Oakley; daughter-in-law, Kathy Minton; step-son, Frank Wilcox (Lindy); step-daughter, Virginia Wilcox; sister, Levonne Greer England (Randolph); sister-in-law, Judith Fox; grandchildren, Kristen Correll, Wesley Oakley, Madison Minton, Mitchell Pope, Tony Wilcox, and Joshua Wilcox; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was well regarded in her community. She was a guitarist and singer, and she loved caring for children. She will be remembered as a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Dorothy loved the Lord and was a member of Word and Truth Ministries Church for 15 years.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.

A memorial service to honor the life of Dorothy Wilcox will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11am at Word and Truth Ministries with Reverend Bill Bentley officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church.
