Douglas McArthur Clark, 80, passed away on March 19, 2026, at 4:10 p.m. at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Douglas was born May 26, 1945 in Lebanon, Virginia.  He was the son of the late Richard and Beatrice Clark.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Berneda, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Mildred Herndon; his brothers, Dale Clark and wife Sandra, and Joe Clark and wife Virgie; his son, Mike Clark and wife Erin; his daughter, Wendy Clark; grandchildren, Keesha Butterfield, Brooke Shockley, Trenton Clark, Heather Powers, Macey Clark, and Laney Clark; and four great-grandchildren.

Douglas was one of the kindest and most loving people you could ever meet, always putting others before himself and serving those around him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Glen Hilton Park in Hickory.

The scripture that best describes his life is 1 Peter 4:10: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." Amen. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
