Dwight Carroll Phillips, age 79, of Lenoir passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026 at his residence. He was born September 5, 1946 in Wilkes County to the late Clyde D. Phillips and Stella Cardwell Phillips. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Phillips; five brothers, Philo, Herbert, Lloyd, Wade, and Branson; and three sisters, Mary Spears, Zora Vea Spears, and Ina Mae Spears.

He retired from Bernhardt Plant 7 and attended East Flat Baptist Church.  Carroll had a big heart, loved fiercely and shared that love and kindness with everyone.  Carroll was a skilled carpenter and craftsman and had a love for old cars and his 1991 Toyota truck.  He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Donna Johnson of Hickory and Amy Phillips (Lee Miller) of Hickory; Ex-son-in-law, Chris Johnson of Lenoir; brother, Ralph Phillips (Vickie) of Lenoir; and two grandchildren, Mara Johnson and Masha Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Mitchell officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Miller, Chris Johnson, David Spears, Dwane Spears, Seth Kilby, and Harold Parlier with honorary pallbearers Ralph Phillips, John Friesland, Dick Coffey, and Ken James.

The family will receive friends one and half hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
