Edna Elaine
Wright
Nov 6, 1942 — Nov 22, 2023
Mrs. Wright, 81, entered her heavenly home early Wednesday morning, November 22, 2023. Edna 'Elaine' Wright was born November 6th, 1942 to Marvin and Verna Saunders.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill; sisters, Lois Tyler and Carolyn Hampton; brother, Jerry Saunders and grandchildren Daniel and Autumn Wright.
She was a loving mother to her 5 children,
William 'Merle' Wright, David 'Dinky' Wright, and Jonathan (Sherri) Wright, whom she loved as a daughter. Debbie (Mike) Simmons her most beloved son in law and Crystal Kennedy. She had 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was so proud of each of them.
Mrs. Wright's living siblings are sisters, Deane Sigmon, Shelba Harris, Ava Crouch, and Meleah Beaty, and brother Daryl Saunders.
Her faith was abundant. A caregiver to those closest to her over the years. An encourager through her words and scripture. A pastor's wife who served with pride and dignity.
She was a devout Christian, faithful to her church for over 35 years. She loved her piano and her honor was to play every time the church was open. Your best prayer warrior.
Her kitchen was her peace. She cooked each meal as if she were 'feeding an army'.
She loved a good clean joke. Her laugh was contagious, and she often laughed until she cried at the littlest of things. Her young grands loved that most about her.
She liked to be well dressed and loved all things sparkly. She was the best thrifter!
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Lenoir. She served with love as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, treasurer, and most importantly, the piano player.
She was our beautiful mother, our nanny, and nana. She was our true "Angel on Earth". She lived a full life and no doubt was ready for her eternal life where she was greeted by many she longed to see. She is now healed of sickness and pain.
The services will be held Monday, November 27th at Grace Baptist Church, 3007 Morganton Blvd SW Lenoir. Receiving will be held from 1-3pm with funeral starting at 3pm. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
