Edward Wayne Sipes, Sr., age 83, of Granite Falls passed away, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Amorem Hospice. He was born February 10, 1942 in Caldwell County to the late Baynie Clifford Sipes and Maxine Kizer Sipes Hajduk. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Frank Phillip Hajduk and one son, Edward Wayne Sipes, Jr.

Mr. Sipes attended and graduated Lenoir Rhyne College with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Merchants Distributors, Inc. as a retail accountant. He was a faithful member of Philadelphia Lutheran Church where he was a previous member of church council, finance, usher and cemetery committees. Edward was a past leader in Cub Scouts Pack 264 of Granite Falls and former assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 251 of Dudley Shoals. Some of his hobbies during retirement included completing family genealogy and preserving photos and information of the history of Granite Falls and Caldwell County.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beverly Reece Sipes; one son, Steven William Sipes (wife, Angela); one step-daughter, Kristin J. McCarraher (husband, Cody); six grandchildren, Christopher Sipes, Rebecca Sipes, Andrew Sipes, Alexander Sipes, Spencer Sipes, Reece McCarraher; and two great-grandchildren, James Lee, Edward Lee.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Philadelphia Lutheran Church of Granite Falls with Vicar Christopher Bass officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church.

A private burial will be held at Pinecrest Cemetery for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Philadelphia Lutheran Church Building Fund, 52 Pinewood Rd, Granite Falls, NC 28630.
