Mrs. Elba Chardon Arizmendi, age 98, of Granite Falls, passed into the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the Greens at Hickory.

Born May 15, 1926 in Puerto Rico, Elba was a daughter of the late Eugenio and Carmen Machado Chardon.  She was a graduate of Polytechnic institute of Puerto Rico.  She obtained a Master's degree in social work from Columbia University. After graduation, she worked as a medical social worker at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.  She then left to do what she loved most....raising her children.

In addition to her parents, Elba was also preceded in death by her husband, Modesto Arizmendi; a great grandson, Joshua Maloney; also four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Denise McGrath (husband Jim); a son, Glenn Arizmendi (wife Laura); granddaughters, Tanya McGrath, Christian McGrath, Lindsay Heaton (husband David), Noel McGrath and Dr. Cara Arizmendi; her great grandchildren, Mariya Pearson, David Heaton, Isabella Heaton and Isabella Jackson; she is also survived by numerous other relatives.

At Elba's request, a private graveside service was held honoring her life.
