Essie Lewis Mullett, age 87, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away at the Greens of Hickory on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Essie was born on October 10, 1936 in Watauga County, North Carolina to the late Charles Clint Lewis and Virginia Potter Lewis.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mullett; sons, Douglas Mullett and Robert Mullett; brothers, Fred Lewis and Jack Lewis; sisters, Lessie Haney, Shirley Miller, and Mabel Woodring; and grandson, Justin Mullett.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gerald Mullett, Terry Mullett (Meg), and Bryan Mullett (Jeanette); daughter, Brenda Edge (Albert); brother, David Lewis (Judy); sister, Bessie Henson; grandchildren, Kevin Kiser (Martha), Kenny Kiser (Angel), Ashley Moses, Jacob Mullett, Amber Mullett, Eric Mullett, and Kelly Dishman (Andy); and great- grandchildren, Caroline, Grace, Kingston, Theo, Rowan, Summer, Kevin, Carter, River, Fern, Maisie, and Madison, as well as all of her loving caregivers and her pet dog, Mr. Betsey.

Essie was a little ball of sunshine. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her right back. She was sassy, but she always made sure that you were fed if you came to her house. She had the heart of a caretaker, always worrying about others, to the extent she would make you take an umbrella out, just in case. Essie loved gardening and being out in her yard. She also loved singing. Whether it was singing in the church choir or just singing hymns to herself at home, she loved to sing for the Lord.

A funeral service to honor Essie's life will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Zack's Fork Baptist Church at 2PM with Reverend Ronnie Watson and Reverend Chad Baldwin officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the church from 1PM until 2PM.

Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery.
