Dr. Frank Fredrick Theodore Holcher passed peacefully on November 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Ted was born in Asheville, North Carolina, on January 31, 1943, to the late Virginia Christine Jackson Holcher and Frank Fredrick Holcher. In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his infant daughter Rebecca and siblings Nancy Jackson Holcher, Dorthea Daniels Powell, and Clarence Lowell Lytle.
Ted grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, as one of five children. After graduating from THE University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Chemistry, he went on to attend Dental School in Chapel Hill. He married his wife of 57 years, Nancy, and they moved to Lenoir, North Carolina, where Ted opened his dental practice and raised his family.
Ted served his community in countless ways as he served on numerous boards; received the Silver Beaver award from the Boy Scouts of America; elected and served as a Caldwell County commissioner; and provided dental care to those in need. An active member of Lenoir Presbyterian Church, Ted served the congregation in many capacities, including Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Leader.
Ted is survived by his wife, Nancy Steelman Holcher; daughters Ellen Bryson (Craig) and Anna Rice (Tate); grandchildren Will, Sally, and Virginia Rice; Zach, Anna Kate and Griffin Bryson; and brother, Max August Holcher. The family would like to give special thanks to George Danner, Carol Barnes, and Patricia Propst for their love and amazing care.
A celebration of life will be held at Lenoir Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. and led by Rev. Dr. Eric Bartel. There will be a receiving at 2:00 pm prior to the 3:00 pm service.
The family would like to thank the staff of Amorem Valdese for the extraordinary care and compassion shown in Ted's brief stay in their care.
