Frankie Hood Thompson, age 86, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Carolina Caring Hospice in Newton, North Carolina.

Frankie was born on September 6, 1938 in Caldwell County to the late Frank Hood and Beola Herman Hood.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Thompson; son, Gary Gragg; step-son, Steve Thompson; and step-daughters, Melinda G. Thompson and Janet Payne.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Larry Gragg and wife Bernice, Brian Gragg and wife Sherry, and Thomas Gragg and wife Barbara; step-son, Eric Thompson; step-daughter, Penny Thompson; and numerous grandchildren.

Frankie was a great mother and loving wife. She was loved by all who knew her. She was the light of many eyes on this Earth. Frankie loved the Lord and was well loved herself.

A funeral service to honor the life of Frankie Hood Thompson will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00PM.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00PM until 2:00PM.

Burial will follow immediately after the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carolina Caring Hospice House in Newton, North Carolina.
