Gary Lee McLean, age 75, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Amorem Hospice. He was born June 1, 1950 in Caldwell County to the late Catherine Jackson. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by his step-father, Bill McLean; and one half-brother, Bobby McLean.

Gary was a 1969 graduate of Lenoir High School, where he played both basketball and football. He made friendships there that lasted a lifetime.

Gary and Nancy were high school sweethearts and were married for 57 years. They traveled a lot but Gary's favorite place was sitting in his boat on beautiful Lake James watching the sunset go down on the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Nancy Bost McLean; his two children, Jacquline McLean Albrecht and Jason Bost McLean; two amazing granddaughters (twins), Taylor Albrecht Greene and husband Tanner Greene of Hickory, and Lindsey Albrecht Plummer and husband Jeff Plummer of Lenoir; two great-grandsons Gary was blessed with, Fisher Rhett Greene and Rhodes Beckham Plummer; one half-brother, Russell McLean; and his constant companion, his dog, Lucy.

Services are to be announced at a later date.
