Mrs. Gayle Setser Wooten, age 80, of Lenoir passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Shaire Center in Lenoir.

Born April 30, 1944 in Caldwell County, Gayle was the daughter of the late Thomas and Gustine McCall Setser.  Gayle was a graduate of Appalachian State University.  She taught second grade at Lower Creek Elementary School for 30 years.  Gayle was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school and many church events.  Some of the things she enjoyed most was gardening in her flower beds, doing crafts, working puzzles and learning new recipes to cook.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ryan Wooten; her fur babies, Ralfi, Lady Bug, Muff, Tigger and Bubba.

Survivors include her son, Ben Wooten; she is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Gayle's life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Greer-McElveen Funeral Home with Reverend John Price officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Burial will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and administration of the Shaire Center, Amorem Hospice, Loraine Cloer and College Avenue Baptist Church.
