George Pinkney Dula, age 75, of Lenoir, passed away October 13, 2023 at hospice in Hudson.

George was born December 24,1947 in Caldwell County to the late Thomas H. Dula and Virginia Triplett Dula.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Dula; three brothers, Steve Dula, Lee Roy Dula, and Gordon Dula; one sister, Barbara Eckard; and brother-in-law Roger Church.

George Dula was a Baptist by faith. He attended Grandview Baptist Church. George was retired from the Lenoir Fire Department.

Those that George left behind include one son, Mark Dula and girlfriend Iris Whitt; sisters, Gwendolyn Church and Shirley Hackworth; one daughter, Anissa Laws and son-in-law Eric Laws; three grandchildren, Brandon, Breanna, and Benjamin Laws; and numerous nieces and nephews. George had so many friends he left behind at the fire department, flea markets to estate sales or just places he sat down to eat.

The services to celebrate the life of George Dula will be held on October 17, 2023 with Raymond Spann and Hoss Moore officiating.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 10am-12pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home with funeral service to follow in the chapel.

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Lenoir Fire Department and honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Laws, Benjamin Laws, and Christian Haas.

At the grave site Lenoir Fire Department will be present to ring the bell for George's last fire call.
