Gerald Lee Hawkins, age 77, of Hickory passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Carolina Caring. He was born September 11, 1947 in Burke County to the late W. Howard Hawkins and Rosa Lee Houk Hawkins. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Hawkins and Phillip Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins was a faithful member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and music director. He worked for the Baptist Children's Home in Thomasville for five years. Gerald enjoyed being outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years, Delores Moretz Hawkins; two sons, Tracy Hawkins (Leslie) and Jonathan Hawkins (Nancy); one brother, Earl Hawkins; one sister, Jeanne Smart; five grandsons, Jordan Hawkins (Kathleen), Mark Hawkins (Alexis), Preston Hawkins (Amanda), Ryan Hawkins (Carley), and Landon Hawkins (Chloe); three great-grandchildren, Addaline, HenleyFay, and Kayson; dear friends, Rev. Jesse and Linda Crooks and Reba and George Cornwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Lakeview Baptist Church of Lenoir with Rev. Gary Lawrence and Rev. Frank Denning officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church, 325 Shasta Ln, Lenoir, NC, United States, North Carolina.
