Ginger Leigh Holland
Harrison
May 19, 1954 — Aug 16, 2026
Connelly Springs
Ginger Leigh Holland Harrison, 72, of Connelly Springs, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on May 19, 1954, in Guilford County, NC, Ginger was known for her generous heart and deep devotion to her family. Alongside her family, she created and operated Birds Only, an exotic bird breeding venture they built together over many years. Outside of her work, Ginger found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—especially reading, crafting, and tending to her gardens. Her greatest joy came from simply being surrounded by family. She cherished the yearly beach trips with her mother and sister and later in life vacations and staycations with her children and grandchildren.
Ginger is survived by her brother, Billy Holland (Vivian); daughters, Melanie Horton (Julian) and Leslie Harrison (Clarence); her eight grandchildren, Courtney Miles (Michael), Allison Smith (Grayson), Michael Herman, Ashton Horton, Kadyn Moretz, Raven Horton (Geron), Ethan Horton (Madison), and Caitlyn Swink; her four great-grandchildren, Zander Miles, Waylon Miles, Kilynn Audrey, and Brilyn Audrey; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Harrison; her mother, Jane Darty; her sister, Rebecca Turner; and her brother, Jeffery Holland.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the gardens of the hearts she tended and the family she cherished so dearly.
Ginger was also a donor. Her family shared the following during her honor walk: Ginger was the peacemaker of our family. We pray that you receive the same peace with her gift. Ginger was always supportive of her family and friends. She believed in us and never let us give up. Let this gift be a reminder that she never wants you to give to up either.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ginger's honor to Burke County Animal Services.
