Gladys Marie Eggers Head, age 84, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

Born December 11, 1938 in Washington County, Virginia, Gladys was a daughter of the late Reuben and Virginia "Virgie" Wilson Eggers.  Gladys worked for over 20 years with Broyhill Occasional Plant 1.  She was a member of the Setzer's Gap Church.  Gladys will be remembered for the caregiving she provided for her family.  She took care of her disabled son, Ronald, for many years and her mother of 94 years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Howard Gordon; six siblings, Lucille Mays, Walter Eggers, Ruth Walsh, Junior Eggers, Luther Eggers and Peggy Christian.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Coy Head; a daughter, Sharon Nelson (husband Tim); two brothers, Eddie Eggers and Billy Eggers (wife Mary Lou); a sister Nell Paris; five grandchildren, Courtney Gordon, Tyler Gordon, Kelli Nelson, Nicole Nelson and Isaac Nelson; two great grandchildren, Teagan Wilson and Lucas Ensminger; she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A celebration of Gladys' life will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Setzer's Gap Church with Preacher Ken Byerly officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
